The current occupations list is called the Medium & Long Term Strategic Skills List or (MLTSSL).  Trades People who are approved to migrate to Australia as a Carpenter can be offered Permanent Residency (PR)). PR is a recognised pathway to Australian Citizenship for you and your family.

Qualified carpenters have two options to enter Australia. Firstly, you may obtain sponsorship from an employer, this can be a good stepping stone to commence your long term PR visa goals. With this pathway you may only work for one employer.

Secondly, Carpenters may go straight to Permanent Residency (PR). For this route you should obtain the necessary visa which permits you to work for any employer or even set up your own business.
